Journaling Prompt: Light up your journal with activity this month. Talk about your goals for July or for the second half of 2025.

My goals for this month are fairly straight forward since June was a crazy busy month for me:

This month, I want to try and write roughly 500 words every day. In total, that'll be just over 15,000, which I think it a simple enough area to aim for. The general hope that it'll be for a single piece of fiction that I finish this month, but when I check where the current WIP is, I don't think it'll stay at 15,000. We shall see though!

The fic in question is Mouse Among Cats, a BG3 story set roughly during Act 1 and focused on OCs. I'm fairly excited on where this one is going now that I have the style for the piece figured out.

Reading-wise, I didn't do as much as I hoped to last month. Again, crazy busy. I'm aiming to finish two books I currently am reading. I recently picked up the second and third volumes of Babel, but I want to first finish The Enchantress of Florence before diving too deeply into Babel. I deeply enjoyed the first one, so I'm looking forward to the next two.

I also want to clear out more of my fanfic backlog, because 80-some tabs is a bit much, to be frank. Maybe work it down to 60. Yeah, 60 tabs sounds good.

My youngest cousin is a whiz when it comes to art, and for their upcoming birthday, I got them some nice art supplies. Seeing their enthusiasm for it and them showing me some of the cool perler beads is making me want to pick up my own pencil and paper again. I dunno if I'll do much, but I do want to set aside a little time for doodling this month. Aim for once a week, hopefully!

🤝 I'm also trying to clear out my fanfic backlog (But every time I whittle down the amount of open tabs, I just keep adding more later 😅)

Best of luck with your goals!

The Enchantress of Florence, wow! When I read it for the first time it was as if someone (Rushdie) blew up my apartment (in a Fight Club kind of way), I loved every second of it. Should re-read it soon, thank you for reminding me. :D

This all sounds so grounded and quietly joyful—like you’re carving out space for creativity after a whirlwind month, and I love that for you.

Clearing out 20 fic tabs is heroic. Honestly, even picking a starting point in an 80-tab chaos zone deserves applause.

And the art goal? So sweet. There’s something really lovely about being inspired by someone else’s joy—especially someone younger. Hope those weekly doodles feel like play, not pressure.
