Four Hours into Dragon Age: Inquisition

So, I've been kinda circling the Dragon Age series for a bit over a decade. A few friends of mine were obsessed with Inquisition when it came out, and so anything I know about the series has just been from following them on tumblr. Fandom-by-proxy, if you will. The few things I'm aware of in the fandom is mage oppression, Templars bad (?), CIRCLES BAD, and a shit ton of Discourse (TM) regarding both Solas and Cullen.

Thoughts so far: I like the world building! I don't know half the shit that's being thrown at me and the radial dialogue options is something to get use to. At this point, I'm just clicking on dialogue choices I think would make sense for my thrown together Daelish elf character. How I've been playing her is a reluctant participant, and she does not like Solas. Yet, by clicking on RP choices, I have speed ran Approval for this bald twink. SIR! I'M GOOD!

Favorite companions so far: Varric. Though Cassandra is a close second.

The real-time strategy is a bit jarring after years of playing turn-based or action RPGs, so this will be interesting. I'll probably be abusing the shit out of the pause button lol

I cannot wait to see what you think as the game goes on !! To be fair, I think I felt exactly this lost in regards to lore going in blind with the first game wehehe. I have my issues with Inquisition but I really hope you like it! (And you should definitely go back to DA2 in the future if only for more Varric and Cassandra content--incredible taste in companions btw)

Also would love to see more of your Inquisitor :) The arcs people send their ocs on in these games are so fun to hear about, and "Maxed Approval from Solas despite not liking him" is immediately one of the funniest possible places you could be

Good to know the "super lost" thing isn't just me. I'm 15 hours in, and I'm very much appreciating the Complicated Politics of the continent, though I am still incredibly skeptical of the Templars. I did hear that up until Veilguard, DAI was the weaker of the titles. Ooooh, I'll probably give it a shot! I'm also tempted to retry Origins.

I've also recruited more characters. Cassandra and Varric are still top contenders, but it now feels like they have competition (Blackwall, Sera, and Vivienne).

I'll admit, I don't have much XD; The basics I have so far is that she was a Daelish elf spy that got caught up in something much bigger, and she just wants to go home. She's deeply skeptical of the whole affair but sticks to it because "I LIVE HERE." Apparently, I also had a little too much fun with a few of the flirt options, so I'm know adding on "she flirts as a power move; will bite her later." I'm just going to see where my choices takes me to see how incredibly funny this bit is.
